swimmies

$25

for wind ensemble
written in 2024

Why are jazz musicians the only ones who get bossa nova’s written
for them? This piece is meant to bring this beautiful style of
Brazilian music to concert bands (finally).

“swimmies” is heavily inspired by the jazz standards “Wave” and
“The Girl from Ipanema” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, utilizing their
triplet motifs, lyrical phrases, and relaxed vibes. While listening
to this piece, try imagining that you’re on chilling at the beach on
a sunny, summer day.
